CELTIC LEGACY B660 Y660
Trails of Antrim, Derry and Donegal
“A sense of something dear gone by will stir, strange longings in the heart for a small world embowered and close of which ye sometime were a part” (E. Dowden) A fitting welcoming to Ireland’s Causeway Coast – nature has spent thousands of years perfecting it; stories of giants, ghosts, witches and warlords have enriched it and artists, writers, poets and musicians have been inspired by it! This is an area of totally unspoilt beauty, where a breathtaking and rugged coastline merges with a landscape of deep, silent glens, lush forests and picturesque villages. So, unlock your imagination and discover the magic for yourself.

    INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
Monday: We travel through Dumfries and Galloway to join the HSS fast ferry to Ireland. On arrival at the port of Belfast we journey west to the Letterkenny for four nights.
Tuesday: THE ANTRIM COAST We drive via Portrush, past the eerie ruins of Dunluce Castle, to the small town of Bushmills, world famous for its Old Bushmills Distillery. Then on to Ireland’s only World Heritage site – the amazing Giant’s Causeway. Over 37,000, geologically created, hexagonal, basalt columns extend out to sea – or would you rather believe the more romantic legend that they were created by the giant Finn McCool? We continue on to the resort town of Ballycastle, which boasts an attractive harbour and central sandy beach with views out over the Atlantic to the remote offshore Rathlin Island.
Wednesday: GLENVEAGH NATIONAL PARK A morning excursion to the Glenveagh National Park and Gardens situated on the East side of the Derryveagh Mountains in County Donegal. The park is set in 14,000 hectares of mountains, bogland and lakes, where Red deer shelter in the woodland whilst overhead golden eagle and peregrines patrol the skies. (Admission to the Victorian Castle is not included and is payable direct to the Castle for those wishing to visit & is subject to their availability.)
Friday: ULSTER AMERICAN FOLK PARK A late morning departure from our hotel for Dublin. En route we visit the Ulster American Folk Park, one of the best open air museums of its kind where we can re-live the story of the floods of emigrants who left these shores. Sail away to the new world on board the Brig Union, a life sized emigrant sailing ship. Two complete streets re-enact old & new world with demonstrations of spinning, printing, cookery and blacksmithing and there are costumed guides.
